A socio-political group, Progressive Volunteers Group (PVG) has joined the growing number of groups and personalities across the country beckoning on the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, to run for office of president in the 2023 General Election.
PVG said Amaechi’s antecedents in public service and his outstanding performance as governor of Rivers State places him miles ahead of other aspirants jostling to secure the Presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group in a statement jointly signed by it’s convener, Dame Ibifuro Thompson Tatua, and Director General, Mr. Living Olavokere Jamala on Saturday said it will be a great disservice to the country and his admirers all over the world for Amaechi not to step forward and declare an interest to contest for the presidency in 2023.
“We the Progressive Volunteers Group appeal to the Honourable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to without delay, answer the loud Clarion call from Nigerians of all walks of life across the breadth and length of the country, urging him to make himself available to vie for the APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 General Election.
“Given his track records in public service since his days as governor of Rivers State where he redefined governance and made the state a choice destination for business, tourism, quality education, security, health, quality infrastructure to his remarkable scorecard as one of, if not the best performing minister of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, no one is in doubt about his ability to replicate it as president, if given the opportunity”.
PVG said Amaech is conversant with what the country needs and as an appointee of President Buhari, he is in tune with the vision of the incumbent and would therefore be effective in continuing with all the laudable policies and projects that are in place with the capacity to advance them to the next logical phase.
“To consolidate on President Muhammadu Buhari’s legacies, the group lends its voice to increase the call on Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi to present himself for the office of President of Nigeria in 2023 presidential election under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.”
The group also urged the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari to throw their weight behind Amaechi who served twice as Buhari’s Campaign Director General with tremendous success.
Although Amaechi is yet to formally declare his intention to contest for the country’s most-coveted position, PVG maintained he is the most qualified among other eminent Nigerians.
