22 members of the APC Ahoada East LGA Executive Committee, rising from a meeting at the LGA Party Secretariat Ahoada passed a Vote-Of-No-Confidence on the LGA Party Chairman Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo, suspending him from his position as Chairman of the Executive Committee and subsequently swore-in an Acting LGA Party Chairman Engr Samuel V. Ogbani to pilot the affairs of the party in the LGA.
This was contained in the resolution duly signed by 22 out of 27 LGA Executive Committee members on Tuesday 15/02/2022 at the LGA APC Party Secretariat Ahoada Town and made available to the press.
The Executive Committee members cited various provisions of the APC Constitution 2019 as amended which Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo has flouted which constitutes a rape of the APC Constitution, abuse of office, gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
In the resolution signed by the 22 members of the LGA Executive Committee, Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo was said to be operating as a sole administrator not only ignoring the existence and functions of other LGA Executives elected alongside him, but also appointed aides and arrogated them the functions of elected party officials. For instance from the resolution documents made available to the press revealed that the ousted Chairman Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo appointed one Mr Chime Oyaghiri as Special Assistant (SA) on media and arrogated to him duties of the LGA Publicity Secretary making publications in behalf of the LGA Executive Committee and sometimes as LGA secretary sending circulars for LGA meetings, and that he also appointed one Mr Prince Noble as his personal Administrative Secretary but arrogated to him the duties of the LGA Party Secretary, LGA Welfare Secretary, LGA Organizing Secretary, taking minutes of LGA meeting, receiving and sharing of welfare packages, that Mr Salvation also appointed other aides to usurp the duties of the members of the LGA Executive Committee, an act they described as unconstitutional and gross abuse or office.
The resolution also highlighted details of Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo’s anti-party activities resulting in the Executive Committee invoking relevant sections of the APC Constitution to remove him as Chairman.
APC Ahoada East LGA Executive Committee also congratulated the new Acting LGA Party Chairman Samuel Ogbani and urged him to ensure to act in line with the Constitution of the APC and implement strategies to win the LGA in the forthcoming general elections in 2023 for APC and display absolute loyalty to the leadership of the LGA caucus in the LGA led by Barr Eric Apia and Leader of the party in Rivers State Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi CON Nigerian Minister for Transportation.
The Executive Committee of the LGA also pledged their support to the Leader of APC Rivers Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the State Party Chairman Chief Emeka Beke and Ahoada East LGA APC party leader Hon Barr Eric C. Apia.
Reacting to the development, the LGA Publicity Secretary of the party Jerome Fyne described the move as timely; saying that the LGA Executive Committee members where sworn to protect the party’s constitution and win election for the party, but acts by the erstwhile Chairman Ezegwogwo were only geared towards destroying the party especially his resolve to act as sole administrator putting up fights against respected party leaders.
Efforts to get former LGA Party Chairman Mr Salvation Ezegwogwo proved abortive as at time of this release..
