The Leadership of the All Progressive Congress has resolved to go by consensus in fielding a candidate for the 2023 Election.

The decision was reached following the outcome of the report submitted to the National Chairman of the party by the Oyegun led Screening committee yesterday where 13 aspirants were cleared to run, and 10 aspirants stands disqualified.

The chairman of the Screening committee disclosed that when he brought up the issue of a consensus candidate for the party about 98 to 99 percent of the Presidential aspirants said to abide by the decision of the party since the party is supreme. as against 1 percent who said unless he is the consensus candidate of the party else he will not accept the idea of fielding a consensus candidate for APC in the 2023 general.

On the other hand the State governors after their meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari to allow him choose his successor, 17 state governors have given their consent to support the president in his quest to produce a successor.

The 36 state chairmen of the party including the FCT has thrown their weight behind the president in producing the next president of the country through the APC.

The president has promised to pronounce his possible replacement and the candidate of the party on the day of the presidential primary election for security reasons.

The national party chairman on his own part has charged party faithful to stay resolute for the progress of the party in the fort coming general election.
Also he has charged the convention committee chairman and all the sub-committee to see to the success of the Presidential primary election.
