The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in South-South geopolitical region, Chief Victor Giadom, has declared that the party will take over the entire South-South states and retain the presidency in 2023.
The Zonal Chairman made the disclosure on Saturday during a special thanksgiving service/official declaration for the presidential race on the platform of the APC by the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking on the sidelines of the well-attended ceremony held at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Rivers State, Giadom said the APC will sweep the opposition PDP away from government in the remaining five states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers in 2023.
Giadom said, “There is no going back on our firm resolve to take over all the South-South states and still hold fast to the Federal Government in 2023.
“Anything with a beginning must have an end. Therefore, the end to the lacklustre, tactless and visionless style of leadership by the PDP in this zone has begun in earnest. The process of their evacuation from office just commenced and will be judiciously pursued to a logical end.”
Reacting to the official declaration of Nigeria’s Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, the party chieftain said with the entry of Amaechi into the race, the South-South zone is now in national spotlight.
Giadom stated that the APC has greater chances of moving the nation forward under an Amaechi presidency and boasted the South-South APC is proud and willing to offer him to the country for such national assignment.
However, Giadom maintained the party will provide a level playing field for all aspirants to various elective positions in the forthcoming primaries, stressing that internal democracy is a nature and trademark of the APC.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, had in a speech titled “Forward With Courage” announced his intention to become Nigeria’s next president in 2023.
Speaking to a mammoth crowd of over 70, 000 supporters, Amaechi said his interest was not about personal ambition but predicated on public service experience and patriotic passion.
He promised that basic education, employment and the conducive atmosphere needed for businesses to thrive, including security of lives and property of all Nigerians will be given prior attention by his government if elected into office.
