As women within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), continue to push for 40% elective and appointive slots in the 2023 general elections, Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Hon. Honourable Asita Honourable, has charged women in the APC, especially from the Orashi region to remain committed and be team players.

Asita, gave the charge when APC Women Leaders and their Deputies from the Orashi region paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The NIMASA boss who thanked the women for the visit, also expressed joy over their boldness and commitment in politics.

He said: “It takes extra courage for women to venture into politics because of the pressures they get from home and.the way society is tailored. I am happy that women from Orashi region are coming out to be active in politics”.

Speaking further, Asita encouraged the women to remain steadfast even if their demands were not met, noting that their roles will not go unnoticed. The NIMASA boss pointed out that he was not surprised that women from the region were the first to call on him to run for governorship, saying women are pillars who always remain true to their course.

“In all areas you find yourselves, just know that you are ambassadors of APC. Be team players and work for the good and victory of the party because people are taking note of your commitments,” he said.

Asita, who expressed optimism that the APC will come out victorious both at the state and national levels in 2023, promised to always support women from the region, adding, “Charity begins at home.”

“We assure that Orashi region is blessed with very strong women in politics and we cannot afford to put you to shame when given the opportunity to serve. We also want you to present yourself to run for the office of the governor of Rivers State in the 2023 elections because you are an Ijaw from the Orashi region and you are eminently qualified for the office”, she said.
