The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated Rivers-born sports enthusiasts, Hon Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa as member of the National Sports Federations.
The elaborate swearing-in ceremony was performed by the Honorable Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Sunday Dare at the VIP launge, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Friday.
Representing South South on the Board of Nigeria Karate Federation, Dr Dimkpa is to function as member local organizing committee of the coming Olympics, national sports festival and national youths games.
Also inaugurated was another Rivers indigene, Mr Amakiri Oruamabo into the board of the Nigerian Wushu Kungfu Federation.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare charged the inductees, including presidents and members of boards of 29 federations in Nigeria, to follow President Muhammadu Buhari’s roadmap on sports, to view sports as business and no longer recreation.
He tasked them to ensure they organize a befitting outing for Nigeria during next Olympics, national sports festival and national youths games coming up soon.
All inaugurated members of various boards of federations are to last for a period of four years.
