…Says the Creation of State Ministry of Aviation and Technology is Novel, Pacesetting.
Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has commended Gov. Dave Umahi for the timely completion of the Ebonyi State International Airport, a landmark project conceived by him and initiated under his administration to woo local and foreign investors, boost transnational trade and commerce, create jobs and improve the economy of the state for the general good.
In a statement made available to media houses in the country, the party Chief described as novel, the establishment of a State Ministry of Aviation and Technology which is saddled with the core responsibility of providing administrative framework and streamlining and coordinating the formal take off of the state’s aviation industry and matters incidental thereto.

With the creation of the State Ministry of Aviation, Ebonyi State, under Umahi, has broken a new ground in the comity of states in Nigeria, as a trailblazer in the aviation industry.
“I am so glad to be alive to witness all the great feats you have achieved not for yourself neither for those of us who are related to you, but for the entire state and all of humanity,” Eze noted.
The airport which which was formally openee to local and international flight operations after a successful test-run operation on Thursday, April 27, 2023, and that will revolutionize business and attract foreign earnings and development with a resultant effect of massive economic fillip.
The party chief noted that the airport houses some of the best features one can find anywhere in the country. For instance, he said the terminal building of the Ebonyi Airport which is named after President Mohammadu Bihari, is the single largest in Nigeria. Same applies to the apron which is the single biggest in Nigeria with 133,000 square metres.
Furthermore, Eze hinted that the international wing of the airport is 60,000 square metres, same as the domestic wing apron.
All necessary facilities like the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), the police post and immigration office has been fully completed and other buildings within the airport such as the substations, halls and the switch rooms are all completed and ready to be put to use. The metrology facilities within and outside the airport have been installed and ready for operation.
Indeed, with the quality of the state-of-the-art facilities that adorn the State International Airport, Ebonyi State is set to be one of the destinations of World travels and tourism that inspire global marketplace for travel trade. Ebonyi International Airport is a beauty to behold and is set to be a leading Airport in Nigeria in offering domestic, regional and international air businesses.

For the test-run operation, Gov. Umahi has approved free boarding for six persons from each local government area of the state returning from Abuja and Lagos state respectively.
