One of the founding fathers and exponents of the creation of Omuma LGA in Rivers State, Chief Jude Ubani, has called on the Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to throw his hat in the ring for the 2023 Presidential elections by seeking the ticket of the APC.
The elderstatesman who has witnessed the evolution of politics since the nation’s independence, compares the current state of security in the country to what played out in Rivers state with the menace of cultism prior to his swearing-in as Governor in 2007 but the then Governor fought it to a standstill. So, the same could be replicated in Nigeria as a workaholic like Amaechi can turn things around.
Most importantly, Nigeria cannot decimate terrorism, banditry and kidnapping with the kinetic efforts of the military alone. Nigeria needs an Amaechi who will massive invest in human capital development by prioritizing education in the North and other parts of the country to solve our security challenges.
With my experience in the private sector and community leadership, i dare say that “bullets will kill a criminal but education will kill criminality”.
Nigeria needs an Amaechi whose investments in education of Rivers children, earned the state the status of a UNESCO World Book Capital.
Today also as Minister of Transportation, Amaechi is replicating his people oriented ideas in that sector. A dead rail transport system has resurrected, with massive allied benefits in the economy. The maritime industry which is a serious money spinner anywhere in the world is witnessing daily reforms with NIMASA and NPA posting billions of naira to the national revenue base.
