It was widespread celebration and joyous moments across Rivers State and the Niger Delta as federal government, wednesday, finally inaugurated Engr. Dr. *Chukwudi Dimkpa* into the long awaited governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Also inaugurated are Mss Lauretta Onochie, board Chairman, Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (Retired) Executive Director Finance and Administration and Mr Charles Ogunmola, Executive Director Projects.

Dr. *Chukwudi Dimkpa*, a Rivers State (South South) representative on the newly appointed Board of the NDDC, is a consistent loyalist and an ardent supporter of His Excellency, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, former Honorable minister of Transportation.

Chief Dimkpa is a lover of sports, especially the games of Polo and Karate, is very popular and a well loved public figure in Eastern Nigeria especially in Rivers State.

A fellow of several professional bodies and recipients of many awards, Engr Dimkpa is a philanthropist known for empowering young people across the Niger Delta, and a man who has made tremendous impact in society through his acts of benevolence.

The Honorable minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Okon Umana inaugurated the new board of the commission on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, at the congress Hall, Transcop Hilton, Abuja.

Umana in his address said “the inauguration of the Governing board of the NDDC underscores the willingness of Mr President to change the narrative of the Niger Delta region”

“Your appointment by Pmb is clear indication of your ability to impact on the lives of the people and to deliver hope to the people of the Niger Delta”.

He urged the newly inaugurated NDDC board to deliver on the vision and mandate of Mr. president by ensuring the result of the forensic audit, the development Niger Delta inter-state roads and the regional master plans, among others are implemented.

Members of the newly sworn-in board include; Dimgba Erugba, Abia state, Dr. Emem Wilcox Wills, Akwa Ibom, Denyanbofa Dimaro, Bayelsa State and Orok Duke, Cross River State.

Others Hon Gbenga Edema, Ondo State, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Abubakar, Nasarawa (North Central), Alhaji Sadiq Sami Ikoh, kebbi state (North West) and Prof. Tahir Mamman, representing Adamawa state (North East). Continue Reading
