NDDC Embarks on Staff Capacity Building By Eno Onun:

.

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced training and capacity-building for its drivers, technical and security personnel to enhance work safety and efficiency.

Declaring the three-day training open, NDDC’s Director of Administration, Dr. Charles Akpan noted that “training is an essential part of human capacity development in any organization eager to enhance or refresh staff competence.”

Akpan expressed optimism that the training would enable the staff to improve on their skills, especially those in the Security Department, which he said had more responsibility due to security challenges in the Niger Delta region.

.

The lead facilitator for the training, Mr. Isaac King, identified over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, distracted driving, poor compliance to road safety rules and fatigue as some of the causes of road traffic accidents.

In his remarks, NDDC’s Head of Driving Unit, Mr. Bassey Ibanga said that the drivers would come out of the training better behaved and more conscious of safety rules.
