NDDC rewards Meritorious Service

The management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has honoured its staff for their hard work, diligence and long years of service to the Commission and the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at the 2020 Meritorious Service Award, the Interim Administrator, Dr. Efiong Akwa, who was represented by the Director of Administration, Dr. Charles Akpan, lauded members of staff for working with the Commission to achieve its mandate of regional development.

“I want to commend the staff of this great Commission, particularly the ones to be awarded, for all their effort and resilience, regardless of the storm the Commission has faced these past years,” Dr. Akpan said, while urging them “to continue to work diligently as hard work pays.”

In his remarks, the Commission’s Director of Human Resources, Barr. Silas Anyanwu, thanked the Interim Administrator for having the interest of the staff at heart. He noted that the awards had been suspended “for some years, but has been revived by the Interim Administrator who is passionate about the welfare of staff.”

Barr. Anyanwu urged members of staff to put in their best service, adding: “Management is watching everybody’s performance – how effectively you discharge your duties.”

He stated that every member of staff should be open to staff redeployment, describing it as “a healthy approach for effective service to the Commission.”

Speaking on behalf of the 165 recipients, Mrs. Chinyere Umeh thanked the administration for recognising members of staff for their hardwork and service, adding that they will continue to do their best to ensure that the Commission achieved its goals and objectives.

The awards honoured members of staff who have put in ten,, fifteen, twenty and twenty-five years of service.
