The business of governance and government is as serious as it is; it is for those who have the maturity and temperament to keep official secrets and do things courageously.
Thus, those seeking our mandate to govern us must be properly interrogated to ascertain their mental, emotional and state of maturity, if they will have the courage to be able to handle a very complex task of leadership.
I overheard Sen Magnus Abe on radio shifting the issues, trying to draw public/PDP sympathy over political attacks on him and his supporters at Oyigbo local government area, yesterday. Sympathy he never knew will not come.
I heard him saying “it is on record that he opposed former Gov Chibuike Amaechi government’s official directives to attack former minister Wike’s GDI activities in 2015”.
Beyond the unnecessary attack, coming on air to expose past official secrets of government (though I believe not true), in a bid to proof your case, makes no sense to me.
It implied you have betrayed the oath of office you took. It tells much of such person’s lack of aptitude, and it tells much of the immaturity, shallowness and character of a those who now seek to govern us.
Rivers State people and the voting public must take serious note on this.
This is not in any way justifying the unwarranted violent attacks on opposing political elements.
Political violence anywhere, including the Oyigbo incidence is intolerable and I condemn it in it’s strongest terms.
I expected the SDP candidate to speak to the real issues of the attack, demonstrate the courage and maturity to accuse those he suspected to be behind it, and the need to arrest offenders to serve as deterrent.
I expect a man who seeks to occupy an office to be of impeccable character, to be responsive and respectful to the secrecy of the SSG’s office he previously occupied and the sacrosanctity of such office he seeks to occupy.
I do not believe trying to trivialise the issue by dragging former minster Amaechi’s name and his past government activities in Rivers State, a government Abe himself served as SSG, into the Oyigbo attack it will help his case.
For some of us who have been critical on Gov Wike’s political intolerance and violent posture overtime, we had wondered why a vocal Sen Abe and his supporters will never attempt joining their voices against Wike’s persistent undemocratic behaviours across the state.
Check them out on social media, radio and newspapers, no matter how evil and barbaric Gov Wike’s actions are against opposing parties, none of Abe supporter, including himself has ever condemned Gov Wike’s behaviour.
Abe never condemned the Gov Wike’s obnoxious executive order 21. As a matter of fact, in the church, he carefully praised the Governor publicly, saying nothing was wrong with the order.
Abe never condemned PDP’s destruction posters and billboards of APC presidential candidate, Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu and those belonging to Rivers APC Governorship candidate Tonye Cole in parts of the State.
He never spoke against attacks on supporters of Atiku Abubakar in Ogoniland and recently in Omuma local government area of the state.
Sen Abe had always referred to Gov Wike as his friend, “brother” and we all know the governor is his man Friday.
He had maintained that he would never “speak in condemnation” against activities of his government.
On anything and everything about Gov Wike, no matter how bad it is against the society, they will remain mute. This is a fact.
He never knew, by allowing Gov Wike to continue to bask in his escapades without speaking against him when it was necessary, will amount to creating a monster for himself, inadvertently?
Violence to anyone is violence to everyone. Violence are like rain drops, it definitely must fall on everyone’s roof, hence, there should be no selective judgment about it or trivialities.
A day of judgment will always come, and perhaps it has come! Sen Magnus Abe should deal with the monster he created, he should leave Amaechi alone.
