RE: EMOHUA LOCAL GOVERNMENT PLACES BAN ON ILLEGAL COMMUNITY BASED VIGILANTE GROUP: SENDS STRONG WARNING TO OBELLE AND IBAA COMMUNITIES OVER RUMOURED RECRUITMENT OF ILLEGAL VIGILANTE GROUPS.

The rejoinder is neither geared towards shooting political missiles that tends to undermine the Chairman’s personality nor to chide the many blunders that underscores his present administration in Emohua LGA in Rivers State just to score some cheap political points. This is strictly expedient and tends to address major issues affecting Obelle Community and Uvuaghu at large.

Hon. Barr. Chidi Llyod, the executive chairman of Emohua Local Council had issued a statement through his media aid Comr. Bright Jossey on June 26, 2022 barring the people of Obelle from engaging in recruiting local vigilante militias except for the ones that is approved by the LGA Executives called Emohua Local Government Vigilante Services (EMOVIS). Hence, this repartee becomes more than pertinent to address certain issues raised by the chairman.

It is important for the readers to have a first hand knowledge that Obelle Community have been in the news over series of cult related activities with the malady first raising its ugly head in 2006. Subsequent major clashes would follow suit in 2009, 2016, 2019 and now 2022. It will be more than eulogizing to note that in all these years that this monster has taken toe to distort normalcy in the now deserted community, this is the first time that Obelle residents would be completely annihilated by unscrupulous elements from
their land. Since 2006 till date, more than 5 LGA chairmen have emerged with each chairman taking a holistic approach towards crisis management with some taking additional steps to harnessing a perpetual solution in withering the albatross.

The titillating question that begs for answer from the Hon. Chairman is “How come there is no single soul in Obelle for over four months (and still counting) in his administration?”. The only efforts Dr. Llyod has successfully gannered for himself is to become a radio station celebrity where his sing-song loyalists will brandished his achievements while in reality, Obelle people are wallowing in tears.

To drag a long wedge on the Chairman’s obnoxious stands, it is high time Hon. Llyod is put in the know that the issue of security is very sensitive and requires contingent actions and no one man can claim monopoly of it. It requires the collective efforts of both stakeholders of the community, LGA executives and security operatives and if possible, the boys in questions in order to put this menace under control. Since the Chairman in this regard has failed blatantly in driving the much needed atmosphere that ought to broker truce, I advice he allow the community roll out rafts of security measures suitable for them to insulate their lives and properties instead of issuing directives culpable of degenerating further sores to already expanded injury as it culminates to insecurity.

Again, it is incontrovertible fact that the Chairman’s lukewarm attitude in unravelling his diplomatic wizards in deploring peace is heavily tied under the cloak of political opportunism in 2023 election.

It is regrettable that the Council Boss is swift to issue ban on vigilante group while disregarding outrightly some key areas that ought to add elephantine benefit to the people of Obelle. No word can aptly depict the nauseating condition of the only primary Health Center in Obelle than a morgue. Students at both State’s primary and secondary school in Obelle have been subjected to unmitigated poor learning environment and talking about Electricity, the community have been in complete blackout long before the cult clash. This few areas needs urgent attention from the Chairman.

While I commend the super efforts of both Chiefs and Councils of Obelle and His Royay Majesty of Emohua Community, Orha Seargent Awuse for their countless efforts towards peace bridging in Obelle Land, I want to use this opportunity to call on all meaningful sons and daughters of Emohua LGA; Sen. Andrew Uchendu, Hon. Emeka Gbeke, Chief Hon. Emma Chindah, Engr. Lucky Worlu, Chief Hon. Allen Nma, Hon. Emeka Woke, Chief Hon. God’stime Orlukwu, Hon. Emeh Glory, Hon. Austine Asomereji and others to call our Honourable Council Boss to order as the people of Obelle are now perplexed, sick and tired of his hypnoticing and trance-inducing lies. Obelle people are home sickening, hungry and tired of being refugees in neighborhood communities.

I want to also use this medium to call our boys to order. This is the best time to eschew cultism, forgive, cease fire and become part of overall community development.
