The Rivers-born Zonal Chairman led other members of the ZEC to the crucial fact-finding meeting, held at the popular Empowerment Support Initiative, ESI, Event Centre in GRA area of Port Harcourt, and was warmly received by the State Chairman of the party in Rivers State, Chief Emeka Beke, and other leaders of the party in the state.
Addressing his audience at the well attended meeting on the purpose of the zonal tour, Giadom said, “Firstly, we are here to meet with you as the party here in Rivers State. We are here to dialogue with you and understand the challenges we have in this state as a party.
“In a nutshell, the intention of this meeting is to critically look at the party in the state and find out from you the things we can do better than what we are doing presently.
“Here, we will do more of listening than talking, so that we can collate all the things that we find useful to improve on the strength of the party and the fortunes of the party.
“I know the desire of all of us here is to regain our state from the PDP.
“This is a task that all of us have agreed to accomplish; and I know that everybody in this hall, including the candidates here, are desirous to see that happen, so that we can return back to good governance in Rivers State.”
While lauding the formidable architecture and purposeful leadership enjoyed by the party in the state, the Zonal Chairman also underscored the need for party faithfuls to close ranks, so as to sweep the 2023 polls in Rivers State.
He said, “I’m very proud of the party in this state because I understand exactly what is happening to the party. This party is very strong and we are prepared to win elections in 2023.
“Therefore, it behoves on us as a party to come together to work towards actualizing the victory in our state.
“As we listen to you, our intention and desire is to collate all the things we hear, all the things that pose as difficulties against our set intentions, and relay same to the national party. We need to put all that together and find a way to resolve them.”
On the importance of liberating the state, which is currently haemorrhaging from economic hardship perpetrated by the PDP-led Rivers State Government, party stakeholders from the senatorial districts in Rivers State expressed concerns on a wide array of issues.
Ranging from the unholy alliance of some South-West APC governors with leaders of the opposition in Rivers State; the controversy surrounding the refusal of Justice Stephen Pam to recuse self from a case instituted by Rivers PDP against APC 2023 candidates to other issues of exclusion from the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, speaker after speaker, asked for intervention and remediation from appropriate authorities.
In his remarks, the Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Beke, was upbeat on the preparedness of the party to win all the seats she is sponsoring candidates for in the elections but however solicited for the support of the NWC to boost the morale of party faithfuls at the grassroots.
On his part, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. Innocent Barikor, insisted that with the calibre of candidates paraded by Rivers APC, the party is poised to win with a landslide. Nevertheless, he cautioned against complacency from party members.
Members of the Zonal Executive Committee who accompanied the Zonal Chairman to the meeting were the Zonal Organising Secretary, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere; Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mr. David Okumgba and the Zonal Woman Leader, Mrs. Cynthia Princewill.
Others were the Zonal Legal Adviser, Chuks Ogbupoto, Esq.; the Zonal Special Leader, Chief Edet Asia and the Zonal Youth Leader, Comrade Ebimobowe.
