RIVERS APC GROUP BERATE GOVERNOR WIKE: Insist RT. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi have done more for Etche Ethnic Nationality.
The attention Circle of Concerned APC Members in Rivers State have been drawn to comments credited to Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike where he said the previous government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi did nothing for Etche people.
In what appears to be a desperate effort to avoid being caught in the *rat race* of the development of Rivers State; especially with regards to public criticisms of not investing in development outside of his home Local Government Areas, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike Executive Governor of Rivers State have continued to inundate the public with innuendos and outright falsehood. This was captured in his misleading utterances to the people of Etche on the occasion of the inauguration of the construction of Chokocho — Igbodo road. Again he has come under intense pressure to attempt to romanticize his poor performance in almost all departments of modern governance and development. Consequently for him”politics is everything and everything is politics.” This is not only part of his penchant for diversionary politics but also deliberate cajole of the good people of Etche ethnic nationality and indeed Nigerians into believing that he has done well for Etche. Wike needs to be reminded that Etche people are wiser than he thinks.
According to the Society for International Development (SID) *Development ”is a process that creates growth, progress, positive change or the addition of physical, economic, environmental, social and demographic components. The purpose of development is a rise in the level and quality of life of the population, and the creation or expansion of local regional income and employment opportunities, without damaging the resources of the environment. Development is visible and useful, not necessarily immediately, and includes an aspect of quality change and the creation of conditions for a continuation of that change”*
Well meaning people of Etche understand the meaning of development and will not stop reminiscing the full manifestation of all aspects of the term during the administration of Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, RT. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as Governor of Rivers State.
He took Education to their doorsteps just as he took employment and wealth creation. He provided health care for both young and old, just as he invested in Agriculture. He built world class infrastructure not only for Etche but also for the rest of the State. The towering achievements of Rotimi Amaechi, a man who toiled day and night to turn Etche and indeed Rivers State into an oasis of prosperity are far too high for Governor Wike to meet. He is however free to covet and envy. In a matter of months the whole debacle of Wike’s maladministration, deceit and lack of transparency in Governance will come to an end and light will be ushered into Etche and Rivers State again.
In the interest of unsuspecting members of the public who may have been or may be misled by the deceptive tendencies of Governor Wike, below is a compendium of development efforts of the administration of RT. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in Etche as Governor of Rivers State.
*EDUCATION*
Governor Amaechi (as he then was) inherited dilapidated Educational infrastructures from decaying classroom blocks, poor state and absence of school desks – students and pupils took lessons under trees 🌳 sitting on bare floor and grossly inadequate numbers of teaching and non teaching staff leading to an embarrassing student teacher ratio in Rivers state schools amongst other challenges.
Concerned about the worrisome state of Education in Rivers State and to underscore the importance and place of Education in the development of any Community, Amaechi declared a state of emergency in Education.

There is no gain saying that human capital development occupies a critical place in the development of any society. As if that was not enough, the Rivers State Scholarship Board under Rotimi Amaechi as Governor of Rivers State also awarded Fifty One (51) Local Scholarships comprising Twenty Nine (29) undergraduate offers and Twenty Two (22) postgraduate offers to indigenes of Etche.
The Board also awarded Four (4) Foreign scholarships (Two masters and Two PhDs) to Etche sons and daughters.
EMPLOYMENT OF ETCHE INDIGENES
In other to improve the ratio of students/pupils to teachers in line with international best practices and ultimately guarantee learning in our schools, the administration of Rotimi Amaechi in Rivers State employed Thirteen Thousand, Two Hundred Teachers through a very transparent process which saw Etche indigenes in their hundreds gain employment into the Rivers State public service. They are today in our schools system adding value to Education in the State and providing for their families.
HEALTH CARE
Before the advent of the administration of RT. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as Governor of Rivers State, there was only one dysfunctional, dilapidated and filthy General Hospital in Etche lacking in equipments, Doctors and other health care professionals and a disgustingly dirty Primary Health Care facility in one of two communities. As the head of a responsible Government, concerned about the well-being of her citizenry, the impact of an unhealthy population on the productivity of the people and the economy of the State, Governor Amaechi constructed Twenty Eight (28) primary health care centers and Hospitals in Etche in the under listed communities:

Employment of Doctors and other Health Professionals.
It is common knowledge that Rotimi Amaechi employed over Four Hundred Doctors and injected same into our Health Care system. Indigenes of Etche were not left out. A good number of Doctors from the Etche Nation were employed and deployed to man the various health care facilities which dotted Rivers Communities.
ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE:
⏺ Population explosion in Portharcourt City and neighboring Obio/Akpor Local Government Area offered Etche as a viable alternative to the city center. The proximity of the ethnic nationality to Portharcourt city became a major motivation for the massive road infrastructure constructed in the various communities in Etche. Over Twenty (20) roads were either built or reconstructed and expanded. Below are some of the roads embarked upon by the Amaechi administration in Etche.

2. Construction of Ozuzu – CSS Isu – Ogida-Owu-Egbu Road (13km)
3. Construction of Egwi-Afara-Mba Road
4. Construction of Chokocho-Umuechem-Ozuzu
6. Construction of Access Road to the waste to wealth project site at Igbo-Etche
7. Construction of Okehi-Mba-Umuafuru-Akpoku-Obite Road (21km with Bridge)
RURAL ELECTRIFICATION OF SOME ETCHE COMMUNITIES
The provision of electricity is no doubt a veritable tool in the industrialization of any society. Social economic activities of our communities depends largely on the availability of power. It is in keeping with this reality that the Rotimi Amaechi administration in Rivers State embarked on aggressive rural electrification of many communities in the state. Etche had her fair share of this initiative of the Government. Below are the communities in Etche which benefited from the scheme.
