The Rivers East Interest Group, has moved its Senatorial District wide consultations to Okrika Local Government Area where it met with the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the LGA, Chief David Alabere aka Arisky at his residence.
The group whose cardinal objective is the actualization of a Rivers East Senator of Etche extraction, has since embarked on consultation visits to some major stakeholders across the eight LGAs that make up the Rivers East Senatorial District to rally their support towards the realization of its mandate.
Stating its mission, the group explained that its quest for a Senator of Etche ethnic extraction was hinged on the fact that out of the three ethnic groups that make up the Rivers East Senatorial District, viz; Etche, Ikwerre and Wakirike, Etche was the only one yet to produce a Senator in the entire history of the District even though it had always supported other ethnic groups within the Senatorial District all these years since 1999, noting that it would be most equitable to allow for a Senator of Etche descent to represent the Senatorial District in 2023.
The group further hinted that it had gone ahead to conduct a thorough search across the Etche ethnic group and has found an illustrious son of Etche worthy in character and conduct; a trailblazer and reformer of no small measure who has made immense contributions towards the political and social development of Etche and its people. The group made clear that Chief (Barr.) Nnamdi Okere adequately fits the bill and expressed total confidence in his ability to effectively represent the Senatorial District at the Red Chambers.
In his response, Chief Alabere while pledging his support for the cause observed that the quest for an Etche Senator was just and long overdue and should be considered in all fairness. The Okrika APC leader, Chief Alabere, extolled the character and lifestyle of the Chief Barr. Nnamdi Okere, noting that he very well fits to hold forth for Rivers East in the Red Chambers and however hopes that the party in its wisdom will decide appropriately.
