Rivers Education Commissioner Seeks Cooperation of Proprietors of Private School in Rivers State.

~ threatens the resolve of government to shutdown private schools aiding examination malpractice in the state.

Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom has sought the cooperation of proprietors of private schools in the state to collaborate with the ministry.

Prof. Mmom made this plea earlier today when he met with owners of private schools in Port Harcourt as part of his familiarization with critical stakeholders.

The Education Commissioner noted that the essence of the synergy is to foster homogeneity of the academic calendar and curriculum from the ministry.

He urged proprietors of private schools to employ qualified teachers with educational background to bring to bear contemporary pedagogical methods of impacting positively on students.

The Education Commissioner notified proprietors that a committee has been constituted to visit all private schools in the state to ensure that they operate within the approved guidelines of the ministry.

Prof. Mmom encouraged proprietors to ensure timley payment of approval, renewal and upgrading fees to the government.

He reiterated the resolve of his administration to blacklist private schools aiding examination malpractice in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Mr. Tony Momoh, Head of School, St. Maria Goretti International School, thanked the Commissioner for familiarizing with the association.

He pledged the readiness of the association to collaborate with the ministry for effective service delivery.
