The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has declared Emohua as one LGA in Rivers State where the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Siminialayi Joseph Fubara can be sure of victory in the 2023 general election without any campaign.
He said the footprints of Gov Nyesom Wike administration, supported by the achievements of Emohua local government council under his watch are enough campaign statements to secure victory for the Governorship candidate and other PDP standard bearers in the area in the 2023 general election, adding that the PDP is not in contention with any other political party in Emohua LGA.
Dr. Chidi Lloyd made the declaration at a one day “Free Medical Outreach Programme held at Emohua local government headquarters in Emohua on Friday.
The Free Medical Outreach organised by the Rivers Equity Group, which featured free diagnosis, free drugs administration and free medical consultation had beneficiaries drawn from the fourteen political wards in Emohua local government area.
The Rivers Equity Group is a Pro-PDP group mobilizing support for the candidature of Sir Siminialayi Joseph Fubara, using their LGA-to-LGA Free medical outreach to educate voters on the new electoral act, in preparation for the 2023 general election
The Emohua council chairman commended the Group for their contribution to the wellbeing of the people in the rural communities, describing the free medical outreach as a service to humanity.
He said it is very rare within the political space to find people who are willing to put their resources together to meet the needs of others without the support of government.
He however said that the gesture by the Rivers Equity Group didn’t come to him as a surprise because of the caliber of people leading the Group, adding that he was moved to honour the medical outreach programme because of the reputation of some notable personalities in the group.
Dr. Lloyd promised to partner with the group to ensure that all referrals from Emohua LGA are given the necessary attention. He also promised to bring the activities of the Group to the attention of his colleagues in the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), for possible partnership and support.
Earlier, the leader of Rivers Equity Group, Elder Clapton Ogolo in his address commended Dr. Chidi Lloyd for his support to the group and to the success of the free medical outreach programme.
He congratulated the council chairman for his sterling performance within one year of his administration, describing the infrastructural revolution witnessed across Emohua LGA under the leadership of Dr. Chidi Lloyd as an uncommon achievement.
Clapton Ogolo who later led other members of the Rivers Equity Group to join the Emohua council Boss on an unscheduled inspection of infrastructural projects being executed simultaneously within Emohua council headquarters, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing transformation of the council headquarters by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.
Notable amongst political leaders from Emohua LGA who attended the programme was the leader of PDP caucus and erstwhile chairman of Emohua LGA, Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi, who was also decorated as a patron of the Rivers Equity Group.
Dr. Chidi Lloyd was accompanied by the vice chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. Mrs Edna Nyeche, Leader of Emohua legislative assembly, Hon Mrs Love Nyenke and members of the assembly, as well as the secretary of the council, Chief Vincent Chukwu and principal officers of the council.
