The Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail line (Eastern Rail line) reconstruction project was flagged off by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday 9th March 2021.
The project, is a 1,443 km 1,067 mm narrow gauge.
The Railway line starts from Port Harcourt and terminates at the northeastern city of Maiduguri.
The rail line is expected to link Nigeria’s industrial and agriculture hubs, it will facilitate the movement of people, goods and services. it will connect Rivers, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Borno states.
The Narrow Gauge Railway will run at 60 to 80 kilometers per hour (Kph) and 80 to 100 kilometers per hour (Kph) for freight and passengers respectively.
For those asking questions on when the Federal Government will start a rail project in Rivers State, have you seen that the project is already ongoing? Oh yes it will be completed in a short while, Buhari and Amaechi Una too much.
Let me Remind us that the Present Government in Rivers State have made the Economic activities in Port Harcourt very Dormant , I am glad to tell you that this project will reactivate the dormant economic activities in our Dear State.
This project will take a lot of people out from the street because job opportunities will be created all thanks to President Muhammad Buhari and RT Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi the Hon Minister of Transportation Federal Republic of Nigeria.
