Youths Taunt Chidi Lloyd for Linking Chief Fubara Ohaka With Illegal Oil Refining Business, Demands Apology …Describe Wike’s Order of Arrest as Embarrassing

Coalition of youth groups in Emohua Local Government Area, under the aegis of Emolga Solidarity Front, (ESF), has taken a swipe at the Council Chairman, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, for erroneously linking Chief Hon. Fubara Ohaka, with the activities of illegal oil refining business in Ibaa Town.

In a statement made available to media houses in Port Harcourt on Monday 17 January, 2022, and cosigned by the groups Coordinator and Director of Publicity, Comr. Orlunta Prince and Mr. Agala Gabriel, respectively, the group said it is raged with furry and disappointed at the hasty conclusion of the council chair to drag Chief Ohaka into the muddy waters of crime in very hazy circumstance, describing it as grossly libelous and actionable and called for a retraction and apology to calm frayed nerves.

The group said it would have been fair and pleasing to see a situation where a careful assessment of the situation, identification and investigation of alleged perpetrators and financiers of the crime by the council chairman to ascertain their roles and involvement in the illicit business, precedes the call for the arrest of any individual, to avoid a possible miscarriage of justice as is being occasioned in the circumstance.

ESF categorically stressed that Chief Fubara Ohaka, has no business, link or any trace of connivance, neither is he in partnership with anybody or group engaged in illegal oil refining business in Ibaa or anywhere else in and around Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. They called on anyone with a contrary view to come forward with the proof of an illegal refining site owned and operated by Chief Ohaka or his agents in Ibaa Town or anywhere else.

They alleged a possible political witch-hunt against Chief Ohaka, whom they described as illustrious with a towering political profile and massive grassroots follower-ship.

“Chief Ohaka is an asset to the local government and his rising political records and massive support base from the grassroots is a big threat to the opposition hence the plot to harass him with threats of arrest on flimsy, unsubstantiated grounds.”

Commending the efforts of the State Governor, E.N. Wike in curbing the soothe trend menacing the state, ESF called for a more pragmatic approach in managing the situation to avoid incurring embarrassments and heavy liabilities for the state.
