Essay Topic: Nigerian Content and the Lessons from Covid-19 Pandemic
Objective
The primary objective of the competition is to encourage the youth to build local capacities and competencies, preparing them for effective participation in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry. By exploring the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Nigerian Content, participants will gain insights into the importance of resilience and adaptation in the face of unforeseen challenges.
Contest Rules and Guidelines:
- Eligibility: The contest is open exclusively to 100-200 level students in public and private Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, including Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
- Submission: The competition commences on July 24, 2023, and participants must submit their original manuscripts and accompanying documents via www.ncdmbessay.ng on or before August 28, 2023. Hardcopy submissions will not be considered, and registration on the website is mandatory before submission.
- Documentation: Entrants are required to provide either a letter of admission or a signed letter of attestation from their Head of Department (HOD) to verify their eligibility.
- Originality: All essays must be original and written specifically for the competition. Co-authorship is not permitted, and each entrant is allowed to submit only one entry.
- Word Limit: Manuscripts must not exceed 1,500 words, and entrants must avoid including personal details like names and contact information within the essay content.
- Judging Criteria: Essays will be evaluated based on Clarity of Expression, Spelling and Grammar, Originality of thought, Depth of Analysis, Relevance to Industry, and Conformity to Contest Rules.
- Plagiarism Check: All essays will undergo a plagiarism check using software applications to ensure originality.
Prizes and Recognition
The top three winners will receive cash prizes as follows:
- N1,000,000 for the 1st Place,
- N700,000 for the 2nd Place, and
- N500,000 for the 3rd Place.
Additionally, all top 10 National Finalists will be awarded laptops.
Note: The winning essay will be featured in the NCDMB’s in-house magazine, Local Content Digest, providing the winner with a platform to showcase their talent and expertise.
