The Higher Education Student Loans and Grants Board (HESLGB) has great news for you! The 2023/2024 Special Loan application window is now open for eligible students in need of financial aid. Who Can Apply
The special loan application is exclusively for first-year students who have been selected to pursue accredited generic degree programs at public universities by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). To be eligible for the loan, applicants must demonstrate genuine financial need.
Application Method
To begin the application process, download the official application form from the HESLGB website at www.hesglb.mw. Fill out the form carefully and ensure all required details are accurately provided.
Required Documents
Alongside the application form, you must submit the following supporting documents:
- A copy of your National ID with correct and up-to-date information, or an NRB form with the system-generated sticker.
- Copy of the University/College admission letter or an official press release containing your name.
- National ID of Parents/Guardian.
- In the case of deceased parents, submit the death certificate.
- A non-refundable processing fee of MK 5,000.00 (CASH) deposited in either of the following accounts:
- Account Name: Higher Education Loans and Grants Board Account Number: 1001932884, Bank Name: National Bank of Malawi, Branch: Capital City
- Account Name: HESLGB Loans, Account Number: 21942243, Bank Name: NBS Bank, Branch: Capital City
Submission
Once you’ve completed the application form and gathered all necessary attachments, submit them through one of the following methods:
- Mail the duly filled forms and attachments to: The Executive Director Higher Education Students’ Loans and Grants Board P.O. Box B417, Capital City, Lilongwe
- Hand deliver to: Area 10, Off Phonongo Street, Capital City, Lilongwe
Important Dates
The special loan application window is open from 24th July to 11th August 2023. Mark this period on your calendar and ensure your application reaches HESLGB within this time frame. Applications received outside the specified period will not be considered.
