2023: Three Aspirants Who Didn’t Submit APC Presidential Forms Revealed
Those who did not submit their presidential nomination and expression of interest papers after the purchase have been disclosed by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
About 25 forms were also filed, according to the party.
Barr. Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, announced on Channels Television on Wednesday that 25 applications had been filled up and filed.
Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and Timipreye Sylva, the Minister of Petroleum for State, did not submit their forms, according to him.
“For some of them, it’s a bit iffy. What I have this time, we’ve 28 who purchased form and at the last count, we have 25 who made submission.
“But three of them did not. They’re Senator Chris Ngige, Godwin Emefiele and then we have Timipre Sylva,” he said.
This, however, might indicate that presidential forms purchased for former President Goodluck Jonathan and African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina were actually filed.
Adesina, the president of the African Development Bank, has denied that he is running for president.
This came after a consortium of 28 organizations bought and submitted Adesina’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the APC.
Though Adesina stated on Tuesday that he is not running for president, it is unclear if people who purchased the forms have the ability to fill them out and submit them on their own.
There are rumors that the APC has postponed its presidential candidate screening until May 23 to allow Jonathan and others to submit their nomination papers, but the party’s spokeswoman could certify that all forms, including Jonathan’s, have been filed.
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that the APC presidential nomination form acquired for him by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association was not authorized by him.
In an Abuja statement, his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, claimed the former President had no ties to the northern alliance that bought the form.
He encouraged Nigerians to dismiss the sham and cautioned those behind it to stop defaming his name.
But barely 48 hours after dissociating himself from moves by some groups to draft him into the 2023 presidential race, Jonathan reportedly joined the APC in Bayelsa and finally made up his mind to vie for the top post.
