Government Scholarships for Developing Countries;  As part of its foreign development assistance, the Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships to foreignerss from developing countries and certain third countries listed below to study at public universities in the Czech Republic.

The deadline for submitting applications for the 2024/2025 academic year is 30
September 2023.

About the Scholarship

Providing scholarships to individuals from developing countries and specific nations listed below for their education at Czech public higher education institutions is a significant aspect of the Czech Republic’s foreign development cooperation with a long-standing tradition. Since the late 1950s, more than 20,000 foreign students have successfully completed their studies at Czech universities through the support of the Government of the Czech Republic scholarships.

These government scholarships, governed by Resolution No. 77 of the Czech Republic’s Government dated 28th January 2019, are part of a collaborative foreign development cooperation program undertaken by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (https://www.msmt.cz/) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://www.mzv.cz/). The initiative also involves the Ministry of Health (https://www.mzcr.cz/) in coordination to facilitate educational opportunities for deserving students from the specified countries.

Czech Government Scholarship 2024: Full Free Scholarship program for international students.

  •  Covered Expenses:
  •   Full Tuition Fee
  •    Necessary living and studying expenses in the Czech Republic

Monthly Stipend:

  •    Master’s degree: CZK 14,000 (approximately EUR 545)
  •   PhD degree: CZK 15,000 (approximately EUR 585)

Scholarship holders responsible for covering:

  •    Accommodation expenses
  •    Food expenses
  •   Public transport expenses using the provided monthly stipend.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Czech Republic Scholarship 2024/25, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  •  Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens and nationals of eligible countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Zambia.
  •  Language Requirements: For Master’s degree scholarships, students can choose to study in either Czech or English. Those opting for Czech studies must undergo a 1-year language preparation course before commencing their studies. Students pursuing a Master’s degree in English must demonstrate adequate proficiency in the English language. For PhD programs, studies are conducted exclusively in English, so applicants need to exhibit sufficient English language skills.
  •  Educational Background: Candidates applying for a Master’s study program must have completed a Bachelor’s study program at the time of application. Those seeking a doctoral study program should have completed their master’s study program by the time of application.
  •  Online Entrance English Language Test: Applicants interested in pursuing studies in English must take an online entrance English language test while submitting their application.

Application Procedure:

Each applicant is obliged to fill in an electronic application form at the latest by 30 September 2023. The successful applicant starts studying in the academic year 2024/2025.
