The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was established by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to among other things organize elections into various political offices in the country
Applications are invited for the 2023 Adhoc Staff Recruitment within the capacities below:
1.) Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)
2.) Presiding Officer (PO) & Assistant Presiding Officer (APO)
3.) Registration Area Technician (RATECH)
4.) RAC Manager

Eligibility Criteria
1.) Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
Source Institution and Qualification
- Federal Public / Civil Service / MDAs – Staff on GL 10-14 (Priority is given MDAs. qualified staff of NYSC / NOA / NIMC.
- INEC Staff – RAOs & other INEC staff not engaged in any other duties (GL 10 – 14).
2.) Presiding Officer (PO) & Assistant Presiding Officer (APO)
Source Institution and Qualification
- NYSC – Serving Corps members
- Former NYSC – Not earlier than 2018 (i.e 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021).
- Federal & State Tertiary Institution – Students in Penultimate year & a year to Convocation.
- MDAs (Federal and State) – Permanent Staff with OND or on GL 07 – 10.
3.) RAC Manager
Source Institution and Qualification
- The school / institution hosting the RAC or Super RAC – Head of school or/a Staff on GL 07 and above.
4.) Registration Area Technician (RATECH)
Source Institution and Qualification
- INEC Staff – Suitable ICT staff (State & HQ) of the Commission not engaged in any other duties.
- NYSC – Serving Corps members in the Commission (where available).
General Criteria for All Positions
- Applicants must not be a political party member.
- Applicants must not have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or party.
- Applicants must reside in the STATE selected.

All You Need To Know About The INEC Online Recruitment
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was established by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to among other things organize elections into various political offices in the country.
The functions of INEC as contained in Section 15, Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) and Section 2 of the Electoral Act 2010 (As Amended) include the following:
- Organise, undertake and supervise all elections to the offices of the President and Vice-President, the Governor and Deputy Governor of a State, and to the membership of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly of each state of the federation;
- Register political parties in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and Act of the National Assembly;
- Monitor the organization and operation of the political parties, including their finances; conventions, congresses and party primaries.
- Arrange for the annual examination and auditing of the funds and accounts of political parties, and publish a report on such examination and audit for public information;
- Arrange and conduct the registration of persons qualified to vote and prepare, maintain and revise the register of voters for the purpose of any election under this constitution;
- Monitor political campaigns and provide rules and regulations which shall govern the political parties;
ONLINE RECRUITMENT OF AD-HOC STAFF VIA THE INEC PORTAL FOR RECRUITMENT OF ELECTION STAFF (INECPRES) FOR THE 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS
The Commission has approved the use of INECPRES and its reactivation for interested Applicants who wish to serve as ad-hoc staff for the 2023 General Elections. Consequent upon the above, the Commission has directed that all interested applicants with the exception of Collation/ Returning officers must register on the INECPRES to be eligible for selection and deployment as ad-hoc staff in the 2023 General elections.
To achieve the required number of ad-hoc staff per states, it is important that
robust engagement/sensitization by the Admin. Sees /HOD EOPS/EOS & AEOS under the leadership of the RECS is commenced with the Authorities of Federal, State Tertiary Institutions and the NYSC offices (state/ Government levels).
In addition, I wish to convey the approval of the Commission of the followings:
(i) Launch Period of the INECPRES: opens on Wednesday, 14th September by 8:00 am and closes on Wednesday, 14 December, 2022 by 08:00pm.
