The incoming lawmaker and social rights advocate,in an encounter with newsmen,in Port Harcourt today Friday 30th September,2022 commended the signing of the 2023 election Peace Accord by the presidential candidates, organised by the National Peace Committee, on Thursday yesterday 29th September,2022 in Abuja, the grass_rooted politician admonished that the rise of fake news and misinformation have continued to pose a significant threat to democracy in Nigeria.

The former Chairman Caretaker Committee of Emohua local Government Area,and one time Chairman Rivers State Inter_Ministerial Committee on defloading of Port Harcourt said fake news and misinformation have shifted focus away from issue-based campaigns, to amplifying the potential for personal attacks, insults and incitements.

The academic king giant and prolific writer ,with cherished speaking prowess , added that the rising of hate speech and personal attacks has significantly diminished the civility and decency in public discourse and debate.

The Frontline candidate of APC observed that peaceful, credible and transparent elections,will certainly produced elected representatives,who will understand that electorates should be respected as not only critical stakeholders but prime to have democratic dividends .

”The 2023 election is more than an election, it is an opportunity to serve Nigeria, to defend Nigeria and to uphold her unity and progress,” the Assembly hopeful re-echoing that transparency and accountability,are the cornerstone on which elected public officers will win the confidence of the people,and that issues based campaign,is the globally acceptable campaign models of convincing voters in the 21st century and not attacks on individual or party.

Chief Orlukwu appealed thus ”Therefore, I appeal to all Nigerians, political parties, politicians, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and all stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria is placed first above regional and sectional claims.
