Our people say “whatever the snake hatches must be long”
The Rivers South-East Senatorial district example has shown how desperate politicians can get and how we the people aid them in lying to us.
It is a veritable example of how we employ our mouths and stomachs in mortgaging our future and the future of our children.
The gifts presented by the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial district, Senator Barinada Mpigi is a reflection of how lowly and cheap we have become.
Almost 80% of his Senatorial projects are ongoing(audio projects), according to one of his Media Aids, after all the years spent in the Green Chambers and now the Senate.
Few days ago the Senator presented, (1) one tricycle (8) Motorcycles and (12) sewing machines to the people of Gokana LGA as gift and part of his constituency projects.
Immediately after the presentation, the giftings stirred serious controversy in and outside the Rivers South-East Senatorial district.
Senator Mpigi has no reason to fail in delivering his campaign promises to the people, the senator who made numerous promises during his campaign has no reason to fail the people he said voted him.
Notwithstanding, we believe the PDP in Rivers South-East Senatorial district has no machinary that can defeat the All Progressives Congress in the Senatorial district.
However we acknowledge the fact that the APC not being on the ballot in 2019 played a key role in bringing Senator Mpigi and the PDP to power.
We must think complexity and be futuristic and demand more from those who seek our votes. Not only must we safeguard our future, we must understand that selling our votes is an unacceptable cost.
If we don’t do the right thing today, the cost mounts exponentially and we won’t finish repaying the principal.
The people of Rivers South-East Senatorial district are hereby urged to understand that the time for change has come. They should look beyond Keke and bicycles, including those with deep pockets, who may want to buy their votes.
