The SI Global Executive Program is designed to develop forward-thinking business leaders who want to define a future that is not only economically robust, but also socially and environmentally sustainable. It demonstrates Sweden’s leadership in developing sustainable solutions and acts as a channel to share the country’s rich tradition of sustainable business practices with the rest of the world.
The SI Global Executive Program is intended for senior executives, including CEOs and top managers in companies. The program is tailored to help embed sustainability into a company’s fabric and elevate it from a mere initiative to a core strategic requirement. Participants will be offered valuable insight from an important front in the global sustainability movement.
One of the program’s unique strengths lies in its global reach, bringing together 100 leaders from 22 countries to create a melting pot of perspectives, experiences and opportunities.
• The SI Global Executive Program will take place from May to November 2024, with online sessions throughout its duration. In addition, a one-week module will take place on location in Sweden.
• The program includes interactive workshops, lectures and coaching, as well as meetings with representatives from various companies and organizations in Sweden.
• The program is more than a series of one-way lectures, it is a challenging and interactive experience that requires the participants to actively engage and contribute to the Swedes.

Entry Requirements
Applicants to the SI Global Executive Program must meet the following requirements:
• Be a citizen and resident of one of our program countries: Bangladesh or Brazil. China, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Türkiye, Ukraine* or Vietnam.*Ukrainian applicants living outside Ukraine , are eligible to apply.
• Be in a senior position, such as CEO or senior manager, in a medium-sized company with a mandate to lead strategic change across the company.
• Be at least 30 years old (born no later than 1994).
• Has a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
• Has a completed post-secondary education (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher).
• Be willing to participate actively, provide support and share their experiences and knowledge with other participants.
• Have identified business needs or problems that could be addressed during the program to help their company improve its contribution to a more sustainable world.
An applicant’s company must also meet the following requirements:
• Be locally owned and established in one of the program countries.
• Operate in sectors related to the green transition or make significant commitments related to the green transition (eg renewable energy industries, green buildings, clean transport, water management, waste management and land management).
• Be committed to running a business in a sustainable way and implementing sustainable practices in the organization.

Components of the Swedish Institute’s (SI) Global Executive Program.
Foundation (May – June)
Foundation sessions are held online in both large and small group formats (organized by region and randomly mixed) and include coaching and exploration of the latest developments in business sustainability and the green transition. These sessions are designed to equip participants with the tools and support to further improve their change management skills and start working on their strategic business project.
Strategic business project (June – October)
Each participant is asked to identify a challenge or opportunity relevant to their role or based on their organization’s overall business needs and current approach to sustainability. The participants are supported to apply new knowledge, ideas and inspiration they have gained through the programme. The goal of the strategic business project is to develop real and measurable results that help participants learn by doing, while launching or managing change initiatives that can continue after the program ends. Participants are coached to challenge themselves to choose a project that will provide at least an ROI for their participation in the program.
Masterclasses, online (August – October)
A series of high-quality tailor-made masterclasses are offered to increase participants’ knowledge and skills in relation to their areas of interest and specific needs while working on their strategic business project. Participation in Masterclasses is exclusive to participants who have completed the previous parts of the program.
Sweden Week, on site (October 14 – 18, excluding travel days)
This interactive and immersive on-site experience brings together 100 program participants in Sweden and provides a unique opportunity to network with colleagues in a global context and connect with Swedish business leaders and experts. It offers field visits, workshops and opportunities to explore Swedish culture and local nature. This experience is designed to strengthen participants’ change management skills and help them refine their strategic business projects. Participation in Sweden Week is exclusive to participants who have completed the previous parts of the program.
One step further, online and regionally on site (November)
In the last part of the SI Global Executive Program, the participants put their strategic business projects into practice. They share their expertise and skills with colleagues and stakeholders, celebrate early wins and build strong relationships within a global network of sustainability leaders and through the Swedish Embassy in their home country.
